still waiting

ok, the company i ordered the lenses from and paid 24$ shipping for (dhl 2day express) still hasnt delivered. they called friday, and i was very impressed at the time they did so. they were blaming dhl for the lateness...blah blah. now i checked this morning on the dhl confirmation page and they actually didnt' ship till the 19th..they lied and said the 17th. dhl has it out for delivery..to the wrong address..my mom's house. buttheads. so i will have to go pick it up tonote, if it actually gets delivered at all. anyway, when i called the huy today to get the conf # again, i happen to ask if he has a status..stammers a lot..says no just the tracking #. i told him once i get it i will be calling back to discuss a shipping refund. for goodness sakes, i ordered the same day from tenn using 1st class us mail and had it on thursday for $4. tsk tsk. oh yes i will be calling back!

btw they above shot was taken with my new close up lenses. pretty cool huh. they have a magnifying glass effect, so objects don't blur when you get really close.

had a great time meeting everyone yesterday, albiet for a sad reason. i liked that it was more a celebration of a life, very touching. everyone has promised to wear nametags at the engagement party!

hope everyone is having a great day!

waiting game

today finds me (yah dats me mon) waiting and waiting for a package i paid express shipping on. why? i ask. it is a little more than annoying when i pay for expedited shipping to no avail because a manufacturer takes way too long getting a package READY to ship. what is the point! i even changed my day off to later in the week in anticipation of the delivery.

i ordered some "close up" lenses that i can't wait to get my hands on. i love taking macro shots, but can only get so close with the standard lens. the lenses i ordered actually have magnifying properties to them, so i can get some awesome flower shots without the blur. now that i'm somewhat obsessed with photography, dave and i were discussing upgrading to a new camera. it was a tossup between an slr (big $$) or a new camera coming out in september that has 8 mps with a 12x zoom. we ordered close up, wide angle and a 2.5x zoom as well as some fun filters and a large and small tripod instead. we are both comfortable with the camera we've got and figured we'd try upgrading or present model for less money and see what happens.

i want to play with my new lenses, arrrgh! everytime the dog barks i hope its the DHL guy. hopefully today before i leave for work at 2pm.

at least when we go to ny for vacation in october we will have so much fun with photography. i need to work on taking photos of people though. im very uncomfortable doing it right now. i'm always afraid they will get mad at me, but ny just screams street shots.

anticipation.....

here comes the rain da da da da

i am so very exited to post this. i have been posting on a website called fanartreview.com and am excited to say i got a photo recognized. im so glad it was a photo of my little mama's boy. he really has come so far since dave and i adopted him. we have truly coddled him and only have our selves to blame for him acting like a spoiled child. honestly, though, after what he apparently went through before coming to live with us, i don't mind a bit. dave and i are both delighted to give him the second chance he deserves at a wonderful life.

i hope this elation will carry me through my shift tonight. i know that we will be extraordinarily busy this evening and can already hear the whining through my headset...

my night ended yesterday with a customer crying. i felt soooo bad for her but she called at about 10:30 and there was really nothing i could do for her but help her troubleshoot. i hope everything worked out for her.

dave and i had a nice traditional sunday dinner this week. baked ham and all the fixings. we decided then when i go part time and have every sunday off, we would love to start having dinner with both parents at least once a month. revive something we both miss. we even ate at the table! it truly was a wonderful ending for a great weekend.

hope everyone has a wonderful day!

trying again

canvas size wrong...this is how we learn :)

new template page 2

this is the 2nd page i created.

step one complete

i have been sooo busy trying to get a new page up for my website. for the last couple of days i have been furiously posting pics on photo pages trying to get some feedback. first site, flickr.com - not much luck. i stumbled upon a wonderful site that actually rewards people in their "rankings" for both posting pics and posting comments on other photos. it is a pay site, and it does limit posts to 2 per day, but i really have to say its my very favorite so far. i will post a link later.

thanks to nikki, i also signed up with smugmug.com..i finally had my front page done yesterday and just couldnt get a decent, easy to use, album. soooo annoying. every program that i have requires me to already have a seperate folder with what i want in the album by itself. i couldnt drag and drop from here and there (different folders). mind you i spent about 4 hours last week tagging over 3,200 photos in adobe organizer... now i will have to bite the bullet and do the same for my desktop folder local photos.

i had broken down and purchased a few trade directories for photo sales and was all ready to start sending off a portfolio with samples, but they very strongly suggest having catalogues ready first. that way, if a co asks for 20 more of the same type photo you have them ready. the market is competitive and they won't wait for you :) i guess carpel tunnel is in my future LOL.

luckily it has been slow at work and i've been able to come home early the last few nights on unpaid time, so i will cross my fingers for the same tonight. i am on the "supervisor line" this week, which i do enjoy. i actually get the time to help customers through contact with other departments. usually i have to send an email off to a pool for callback, and have this sinking feeling it won't happen. at least doing everything myself feels better. they are not always happy with me, but they get an answer. this is the only satisfaction i get from my job, so this week is a real treat.

well i am off to post and comment a bit. i have to cut myself off at a certain time (i could do this all day). the house is suffering terribly. i have mounds of stuff to shred (mail) and clean clothes to put away. kitchen floor needs a good mopping as well. ah yes, lastly i will have the pleasure saturday, of exchanging a door at home depot. apparently "universal" doesn't apply to screen door replacements. how much fun it will be to fit that in the element and lug it to the customer service counter. maybe someone will actually help me get the right one this time. dave and i will have to perform a screen door funeral this weekend if all goes well :)

hmmm, 10:30am...do i want to go in early at 1pm or play on my computer till 2pm... oh the decisions. hope everyone has a wonderful day!
