still chugging along

wow...time really does fly! i didnt realize how long it had been since i posted.

as if it is of any importance to anybody but myself..this is what i've accomplished since the last post:

put an armoir in the living room...built it all by myself..one hour assembly my butt! dave had to download the directions because there were none in the box..found this out after lugging the 300 lbs of parts in the house in the rain...about 10 trips...yeah for adobe acrobat :)

my big tada...learned to rewire a ceiling fixture and have since installed two of them..once i figured out what to do with the second ground wire included in the new fixture i was good to go...boy is that murder on the old arms though. of course because of my ocd i keep thinking what if one of the wires isnt done right and i burn the house down :( how exciting it was when i flipped the switch and the light actually worked....

the second thing i did was to replace the mustard colored behemouth of a toilet in the downstairs bathroom! kudos to ace hardware..for the life of me i couldnt get the last bolt off the base of the toilet and he pointed me to an awesome tool and some wd40..the only thing left to do is reinforce one of the rubber washers in the tank..appears to be a very very slow drip..i must say the grossest part was removing the old wax ring...YUCK...

today i am going to try to finish my mini remodel in the bath..thus far the toilet and new vanity lights are up. today is the new medicine cabinet and vanity combo...the key i've learned is have buckets ready :) i will also have to do some painting as the new pieces are 24" instead of the old 30" stuff. we're building the "bathroom is bigger than it really is" illusion. there will also be a minor floor repair as i accidentally caught the old linoleum with the scraper yesterday, removing old adhesive tiles that were a bad idea.

the idiot crochet kit was a hit...had to bleach my fingers first though because they had plumbing yuck on them that wouldnt come off....my scarf is coming along, however lopsided it may be..some rows seem wider than others even though its counted correctly...tension is probably the reason. unfortunately, these house things i've been doing have taken a toll on my fingers and i can't crochet that long because my fingers start to hurt a bit..time will fix that.

if dave gets done early today we hope to get some christmas decorating done today..i bought a grapevine wreath that i'm attaching little ornaments to..and of course a big ribbon...yipee get to play with a glue gun :)

last night dave and i took delivery of a new entertainment center...it looks absolutely awesome in the living room. its the kind that has a bridge on the top.. really big..but somehow the room looks bigger...really completes it perfectly..and at 600 it was a great deal. we both love it! pics to follow.

i put a bunch of my black and white photos in the downstairs bath...if i have time maybe i will hang some more today.

i also hope to install a shelf system in the pantry..god knows we need the storage..this place has a pantry-ette.

back to work tomorrow morning....i got so much done on this vacation! no word yet on the package they were offering but i'm still hoping...however, if not i probably will stay till at least the biginning of the year so i can do some more things in the house. i am thing my next purchase will be an electric fireplace for the bedroom that drops to about 20 degrees at night and a new shower base..eventually the kitchen cabinets last. after seeing my sister's living room wainscoating...and new trimming thats a thought too, but the price per foot makes it a later project.

Dempster's Pub has earned the right to no longer being referred to as "Dumpsters" (this after a horrible first visit)...the food and service the last two times were wonderful..dinner last night was great!

wow that was like four posts in one LOL..someone has to make up for dave's lack of blogging!

hope everyone has a wonderful day...
